It's fun, the food is good, the bill is easily racked up. But it's a decent chain restaurant.
What to order: The katsu curry
When to go: any time
What makes it unique: It's the only major sushi chain in the UK
Yo sushi is a great social place. It's quite small and it can get really busy. The price is abit on the steep side but it's a really good eating out experience and if you sushi like I do then the price won't really matter too much!
I know, it's not exactly something brand new and exciting. But, I just love Yo Sushi. If you've never been (and the original Leeds branch is in Harvey Nics, so you might not have) it's a kitch, Japanese, sushi conveyor belt extravaganza. If you have been, you already know that you can either pick dishes off the train, which are colour coded for price, and order extras to be made up from the extended menu. It's not just raw fish, which suits me, since I don't go for the sashimi.
What sets this spot apart for me is the staff. I've been twice and both times I've had really great, friendly, informative service -- it doesn't feel insincere or over done, they're just plain lovely there!
If you've not tried the weird coconut latte drink, I suggest you give it a go. It's given me the idea to use coconut milk in coffee at home, and that's actually awesome. It doesn't feel like you're ever sat waiting for the particular dish you want to come around and the space is as cool as they always are.
It can definitely add up to an expensive lunch, but I tend to get full rather quickly on rice so it's great if you want something that feels healthy on the inside but won't leave you floored with carbs. I'm a fan!
